71 year old man skates on
Interesting court happenings to do with a 71 year old guy who skates through town ,keeps him in shape , does the shopping , enjoys buskas music .. hes been taken to court.. has been fined 300 pounds for being a 'nuisance' and dangerous..
I do similar skating round town and find it something fun to do .. these debates are happening .. are skaters a nuisance??
I try not to be .. I think its all good fun
Check it out

Deemed 'Pure Evil'
A friend of mine brought this to my attention today
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article997287.ece
Proclaiming that skateboards are a threat to any aircraft boarding within the EU..
'The European Commission yesterday labelled the toys as weapons that could be used to hijack an aircraft and banned them from the cabins of all planes taking off in the EU.'
I suppose following their logic this could apply to any object ..
The skateboard was not alone in being deemed a potential weapon of mass destruction.
' Lacrosse sticks, golf clubs, pool cues and fishing rods were also included on the Commission’s list of items that European Union passengers will be prevented from taking on to aircraft.'
They go on to say
However, the Commission evidently believes that even the most determined terrorists would find it difficult to hijack a plane with a tennis racket or a juggling club; both items escaped the ban.
Which leads me to beleive that this idea has no specific regard for the personalities of a skateboarder or a pool player etc.. It is simply a matter of The Items and the Scare of terroristability..
“It’s crazy. You couldn’t hijack a plane with them. You might as well ban walking sticks,” said Chris Linford, president of the UK Skateboard Slalom Association.
The Commission admitted that it had no evidence that al-Qaeda was stockpiling skateboards, but insisted that they posed a very real threat to airlines. “They have wheels that you could unscrew and use, and you could use it to break a window,” a spokeswoman said.
And the fact is they
Now theres an idea. lets get al qaeda to make boards so we can terrorise planes.
Unscrew and use as what?? im thinking theres a magic powder in the bearings right?
Many things can break windows. even arms and legs.
A very real threat' they love that phrase.
'"this is dangerous i know .. terrorists will do it. beleive me"
the mear mention of al qaeda shows that airline security is becoming very frigid and frightful..
After all this there solution is boards go in the hold. never onboard
Which is somewhat understandable i think ' For convieniance at least.
I mean you dont really need your board on a plane.
But it does ask the question if Security types keep raising the eyebrows at Skaters ..
Do we need to express our harmlessness a little better , or Has everyone just gone mad
